Explore the charm of Britain’s garden birds in this relaxed, walking-based photography workshop. We’ll take a gentle walk through bird-rich habitats, focusing on photographing familiar favourites like robins, blue tits, wrens, and more. With help on fieldcraft and camera settings throughout, this session is perfect for those wanting to sharpen their skills in a natural setting while enjoying a peaceful day outdoors surrounded by birdsong and nature. A public hide is also acccesible.

Equipment needed

Camera: DSLR or Mirrorless with interchangebale lenses, or a bridge camera

Lenses: Lens with a focal length of at least 400mm (300mm on APS-C sensor)

Support: None, as handholding

Other equipment: Spare batteries, spare memory cards, food, drink

Workshop Information

Workshop Cost: £150 per person (max 4 people). Book as a pair for £225

Location: Oundle, North Northamptonshire. Upon receipt of payment the exact location will be disclosed.

Start time: Meet at the location for 9am

 

Duration: 4 hours

Dates: All year round

Parking: On site Pay & Display - £3.50 for 12 hours

Activity level: We will be walking between 1.5km and 2km on flat gravel footpaths. We may access grassed areas that can be damp / boggy in wet weather. We most likely will be using at least one public birdhide.

Guidance: The workshop includes full guidance and tuition throughout the day to help you get the most from your photography experience. N.B. This workshop may include some feeding of the subjects.

Other species we may encounter: Blue Tit, Great Tit, Tree Creeper, Long-tailed Tit, Wren, Mandarin Duck, Red Kite, Robin
